Big Brother 13 Houseguest Profile: Shelly Moore
July 7, 2011 |For our next regular houseguest profile, we bring you the oldest (and possibly one of the smartest) houseguests of the season.
At 41, Shelly Moore is the oldest contestant in the house and has already been compared by some to Big Brother 12 cast member Kathy Hills. I actually think Shelly may prove to be a much smarter and more interesting player than Kathy ever could. Shelly may be the oldest, but she also could turn out to be the wisest in this Big Brother house.
Shelly, an Outdoors Industry Executive currently living in Prairieville, LA, describes herself as “dynamic, tenacious and giving” and says her favorite activity is playing with her family. She also notes that she enjoys saving up junk mail and then “putting all of it in a postage paid junk mail envelope to send back to one of the senders.”
Okay, we kind of like her for that one… a lot.
Shelly says in her official CBS Big Brother profile that she is a natural “leader, a ring leader and a team builder” and plans on trying to “pull a good group of people together that could mutually benefit from the arrangement.” In my humble opinion, I think she sounds like she could maybe end up being a bit of a bossy bother in the house. Could be wrong though, but that’s just how I read between the lines.
According to her LinkedIn.com profile, Shelly Moore is actually listed as the Vice President of Business Development at NBFog, INC. On the company website, Shelly is listed as a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a BS in Elementary Education. Originally from Centerville, OH, she is also a “proud” Delta Zeta Sorority girl, mom to a “beautiful” little 8-year-old girl and “proud wife to a former US Marine.”
We are wondering how she managed to swing taking three months off that kind of job to be on Big Brother when most of us can barely manage a sick day in this economy without getting fired…
Shelly is apparently a big fan of Big Brother, having watched the show from the beginning and has even signed up for the Big Brother live feeds to get all the dish they can’t show you on TV.
According to Zap2It.com, Shelly thinks Big Brother is an “awesome human experiment.” Shelly says she does not plan on ever being a floater in the house because that is “not playing” the game. Since she also says girls with “big boobs” annoy her, we are betting she isn’t going to be too fond of Porsche…

i have had a real problem with Shelly and the way she’s been playing the game, I’ve posted my comments on websites also, I now have gone back and apologized for those comments. Anyone who has opinions on Shelly at this point need to go back and watch the live feed on 8/28/11, 1:30a-2:30a, conversation between her and Jordan. This explains Shellys perspective and yes there still are a few things that don’t appear to be accurate, but what we are seeing is what is on TV or what is online, words, not motives behind behavior. And everyone in the house has exhibited some bad behavior. But from this point on I think we all need to be less judgemental when it comes to Shelly. If Jordan has accepted Shelly’s apology then certainly no one else in this Big Brother world should have a problem with her.
Jordan and her forgiving heart are what make hwe so lovable. My opinions of Shely remain since unlike Jordan, my opinions are based on al the factors. Any rube can be duped into thinking Shelly has purie motives if he/she hasn’t seen all her double dealing, lying, cheating &stealing. I’m not a Rachel fan, but what kind of person takes and hides another’s stuff, lies about taking stuff, gets off on seeing Rachel upset about dog and then has guts to asked her today, “did you find your dog?”. That one issue makes Shelly skuzzy in my book

I would not feel sorry of whatever bad things I would say about her. She is a liar and so rude and spit you in the face literally. No one can finish talking with her coz she would shout and scream at them and never address the problem. OMW how did she ever handle a company like that. Maybe kill some ppl who are in her way to get the money for her “FAMILY”. Or maybe sleep with whoever to get to the top.

Ah you said everyone is doing what she is doing? I dnt think so. Never in big brothers history this happened. Specially with someone blobbing their mouth of how they adore the person and still spit into their face and lied aggressively. Ronnie at least kept his mouth shut the lie after all the confrontation. I hope that Rachael and Jordan are savvy enough to see though Shelly’s ruse. She is a snake and I hope she goes O-U-T the door tonight. I can’t wait. Next ‘out’, the two “idiots”, Porche and Kalia. I think Rachael made herself more likeable when she continued her alliance with Jordan. Thanks, Jordan, you bring out the best in Rachael. Either one winning is ok with me. Shelly has not played the game that I wanted her to play. Early on she truly seemed to be on Jeff and Jordans Side. I do think ultimately that was her plan to stay with them until she had to bail. Face it folks, that is everyones plan. It is a game everyone wants to make it to top two. I really am disappointed that she betrayed her allaince. Shelly is choosing to play her game by lying. It is not the way that I would play the game. Having said that it is a GAME. TMZ is reporting that there have been death threats agains her and her family. Guys, I love to watch Big Brother but please don’t turn this game play into something horrific. It is a game, please remember that.

No matter what happens to Shelly’s level of being forgiven, there will always be the thought in the back of everyone’s mind that she is capable of doing in her best friends. Every trust she may be able to regain will be haunted by knowing that if she can do it once, she can do it again. This will forever change her “integrity” reputation.
I couldn’t agree more. This may just be a game but you have to be capable of this behavior to begin with in order for it to come so naturally to you when you are playing a game. I wonder how she is going to be looked at from this point. I know if I were her friend, her employer or her colleague, it would always be in the back of my mind how she is acting on the show. I don’t think I would ever be able to look at her the same way again.

Really? I feel her backstabbing-ness reflects how goal oriented she is, as she like all the others hopes to win. Jeff is STILL ALIVE. Contrary to the over reactions… she didn’t kill him and hide his body somewhere in the house. Sheesh… In order for Shelly to win, she realizes every other candidate EVEN Jeff and Jordan must lose…and Jeff is strong, so logically given the chance, it might be advised to take it, or such a chance may not return. Was it wise? meh, not necessarily. Does is warrant hatred? No…who really thought Jeff was gonna win anyways? Not me. HOWEVER…it shows Shelly is goal oriented and thinking long term…two things employers appreciate.

The true irony is, shelly had a better chance with Jeff and Jordan. I think the house guest would of been likely to give it to her over Jordan in the final two simply because Jordan had already won once. Does she not see that she still sits third with Kalya and Porche. She coulda won and kept her integrity intact for her daughters sake.

Agree 100%. I do know it is a game, but just like pokeer there is a certain amount of integrity as a human being you live by and is second nature in what ever situation you are in. She obviously has none. I feel sorry for her daughter. She has done nothing in the game for her to deserve to be there. There will be nothing make me happier than her to go thursday. She is so stupid to not see that she was final three with JJ, and its anybodys game at that point. The veto winner has all the power that last week. Now because of her brtrayal, she is sent packing. I do not see how her boss can keep her as an employee with the personal traits she demonstrates on TV.

Shelly didn’t develop her lying, backstabbing way just since she appeared on BB. Anyone with her skills has been in practice for a long time. Her practice for this has likely been on men. She has undermined the men on BB13 repeatedly and now Adam is her target. She is desperate to get him out to keep herself safe. She makes unkind remarks about a physical feature on Adam then call in the girls to join in what she calls “just kidding.”. The topic more often than not is Adam’s body hair or lack of it Her efforts to get all the girls to shave, Nair, or wax his back was dealt with by Adam firmly. She is hoping to get him angry but he is staying cool. Somewhere out there in the corporate world she has done this before. She knows how it works only too well. Ever wondered why the men are all gone but one? Planting seeds of hate and doubt has been going on since day one. However, if she has to stand up to women, she reverts to tears. She won’t answer questions, just out shouts the questioner. Has anyone out there seen this before she appeared on BB?

Agree and have something more to add. Yes she did not murder her child, but think about the shame that girl will have to live. At school, with friends, with neighbors and even relatives. She will always be made fun of having a rat or snake like mom. “Hey how many lines did your mom did today for being a liar?” And what have the daughter learned from the writing lines now?

I have watched every season of BIG BROTHER and I have never disliked a player as much as I dislike Shelly! Her family has to be humiliated by her actions!
Shelly is the most despicable person to play BB. She is teaching her daughter that it’s okay to lie, cheat and backstab people who consider you family as long as there is money involved. She may have extended her life on the show, but she has zero chance of winning anything but the title of most hated person on reality TV. If her family is anything like Shelly, I wouldn’t believe the death threats story without proof! This woman clearly has personality disorders and CBS should screen it’s reality show contestants more thoroughly in the future.

If Shelly thinks that she helped herself by stabbing Jeff in the back, she’s an idiot!! She has won zero physical or mental competitions. If she had been able to make it to the final 3 or even the final 2 by some miracle, the jury members who she lied to, would never vote to give her any money. She had a much better chance if she had stuck with Jeff and Jordan. So, we know 3 things about Shelly: 1. untrustworthy, 2. stupid and 3. evil.
Love her or hate her Shelly has evoked a lot of emotion in the house and with viewers. She clearly has more comments and has stirred up everyone and is getting tons of attention and notice. Plain and simple She is good TV!! This bunch is boring and annoying at least with her there she stirs the pot and keeps them all on their toes….without her what would we be talking about.. Her personal life is hers, and no one has a right to get involved in that, how she raises her child and performs at work is her business.. Hmmm how she got to the top? Well, some investigations might be opened, let me see, maybe 4 or 8 or 16 people she have to sacrifice to get the position? Hmmm or maybe downloaded something on her competitions computer to get them fired or stole their reports? Who knows? Regarding Shelly being a VP at her company. That dinky little company she works for is so small, it doesn’t take much to be a VP. I’ve known people with a VP title that are given that title because it’s the thing the company can give them as compensation once a person has a certain number of years seniority.

For a while I was a stay at home parent. Reason: could not find a job. But that didn’t look good on my resume.
Shelly also works from home, but her husband raises the child.
I am no fan of Shelley but she does not work for a dinky company. At least i don’t think a company that grosses over 280,000,000 is doing that bad. I also believe that she probably has done some shady things to get where she is and wow will she have some explaining to do with her bosses when she gets out of BB.

Shelly is spoiled and selfish. She has her husband take care of their daughter as she lives all of her dreams in life. One minute she’s a beauty contestant, the next being a woodsman, the next on Big Brother. The entire game she has been a liar and two faced. Yes it’s just a game, but game or not it effects peoples lives that are in and outside the house. You can tell this is who she is in the real world too. She lies half the time when it’s not necessary. She has a big mouth and gets in the persons face even though she knows she was just caught in lies then she fake cries to other people to try and get sympathy. I hate how she back stabs someone then goes right up to them afterwards acting like nothings happened or wrong. She might play the game but she certainly doesn’t get my respect.
Lying by omission is another skill Shelly has used. When Adam asked her in front of Jeff about what she said about Jeff, she just kept speaking off topic getting louder to drown out Adam. He repeated his question, but she still wouldn’t answer. He just shook his head as he glanced at Jeff. How can anyone not see this is just like a blatant lie. This is also how she handled Rachel when Rachel revealed Shelly wanted to get rid of Jordan.
Pushing her way into rooms, shouting and interrupting the people inside the room was rude. This is a form of bullying. Often what she thought was being said was not what was happening. Her interruption was to defend herself and it turned out to be a confession. Ironic, huh?
The company she works for can’t be all that dinky. They send her all over the world in her job. Or they did, hopefully this show will show them what a lying, cheating, stealing bitch she really is. Tonight Shelly apologized to Jordan. Of course, Jordan expressed that she understood. Then Shelly started her “poor me” routine. She just had to say how she missed talking to her mother on the phone. Duh! What did she just say? Did she not recall how Jordan gave up her phone call to her mother? This has to be the world’s most insensitive person ever. Next she will be crying on Jordan’s shoulder and saying she misses “Jeff” forgetting that Jordan and Jeff are in love. Shelly only thinks that she misses family. Family may be the only friend left when she gets home.
Look, the bottom line here is that Shelly is the one spouting her self-righteousness to everyone. SHE is the one that says integrity, class, loyalty, being a role model to her kid are what matter. Shelly has sworn on her daughters life about things she has lied about. That goes a bit beyond playing a game for half a mil. No?
And, her daughter is old enough to see and understand what her mother is doing. The damage Shelley is doing to that child isn’t worth half a mil. Poor judgement.

When its all said and done Shelly is a ruthless cold backstabbing vicious player. She takes the fun and enjoyment out of the game and the show. Those who love the show want good fun game play moves. You hide who your team is best you can but somehow Shelly came in and turned the game into a new show called “mean girl as she played a self righteous role. Also the game is about competition and she could not compete in anything. Her words of ” I am always a straight shooter.” Yep she is all right a straight shooter right in your back when you turn.

Your point of view is well put. Maybe in all the years Shelly watched BB she never figured out the objective. It could also be that she sees life like the way she plays BB. In life people can get more quality if they take your advice about playing BB and apply it to their own actions. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
None of us really know what Shelly does from her bio. She has a degree in education but isn’t a school teacher. VP of outdoor club. Could be nothing but a sportsman club. Who knows for all we know she could be a truck driver.
So, after a couple of days being oh-so-nice Shelly is doing the same thing over again – offering to give up her diamond (that everyone knows by now) her mother gave her to wiggle her way into Rachael’s good graces and get to final 3 where she is sure she can win and she just might! What a shame that would be! That really might make me give up on BB —–
Shelly has told everyone at various times that when she gets home she’s gonna send him/her something (Jordan – LSU sleepwear for example). It’s not like they can’t go on line and order the same thing if they want it. It’s her way of getting each one indebted to her; owing her a favor. In return they will be keeping her safe. She can’t offer to keep that person safe because she cannot and has not won anything. In life, no doubt, she has bought herself “friendships” using this technique. Too bad she has no idea how to get a warm friendship by being genuine. Bought friendships are surfaced only relationships. As soon as the gifts are gone, so is the relationship.
She told Jeff she would get him a job. I wonder if she can still keep that promise. She severed their relationship when she lied about him. Chances are he would not want the job if it meant working with her.
Jordan can sure afford her own LSU sleepwear – I am sure plenty people from LSU will send her stuff she does not need shelly to do it – Shelly is going to the jury house to be with Jeff and Brendon!!!

I would just like to say that this is just a game. I have been watching bb since the first season. So, I have seen the best and the worst come out in the players. My daughter auditioned and didn’t make it this season. I look at it different this year than in the past. After last Thursday’s show I was mad. But, it was more because, Jordan was so upset. Shelly was suppose to be a friend more than a player to her. Jordan reminds me of my own daughter. Rachel reminds me of her best friend. I would be mad at anyone doing my girls that way. My first reaction was more emotional than the game. But, after getting the men out of the bb house they both are doing better. Shelly is from my home state. So, of course you don’t want ppl thinking we are all like that..But, you have to play the social game to win. At the time She really didn’t think she did anything wrong. It is just a reality show. Don’t know what any of us would do locked up in a house with ppl you don’t know. That is my two cents and random thoughts on the subject.
I am from Louisiana where she lives in – I actually live very close to her city – we do not stab people in the back like that and the only other thing i have to say is why doesnt she wear things from her college – she does not represent LSU where I happened to go – sorry i dont like her – i dont hate her – i just dont like her – i have the live feed and if you would hear her working everyone – all she is doing is lieing – it is actually getting kinda funny

I agree with Kris! All of the guidelines get tnriiatirg after a while. Sure, breast is best, and sure, your kid doesn\’t *need* solid food until 6 months (or later according to some), and sure, your supposed to eliminate the bottle by 1 year but you know what? YOU\’RE the mom, YOU know best! There is nothing wrong with doing what you think works best for your family, even if it\’s not what your supposed to do. I stopped nursing two months ago, so I didn\’t make it to a year (gasp!). Alex started eating solid foods at five months (gasp!). He eats dairy (gasp!), whole eggs (gasp!) and will probably have peanut butter and whole milk pretty soon. None of those are the right thing to do, according to the rules but they work for us! If she wants it, and you don\’t mind, let her have the bottle. She\’ll give it up sooner or later, and maybe she\’ll do it on her own. I don\’t blame you for not wanting to get rid of cuddle time. Southern Lady = it may be just a game and I expect the HGs to give it everything they have… except I don’t want to see someone get their heart broken. I felt bad for Jordan. As corny as it sounds there was an emotional connection that Jordan had for Shelly. Shelly plays like a lowlife scumbag. No humor, no heart, no finese. There’s more to BB then complimenting HGs and licking their asses.I hate her.

Shelly has had big problems in the kitchen, but can you believe that she can not read the simple directions for instant macaroni and have instant, microwaveable macaroni and cheese. As soon as children learn to read and can reach the buttons on the microwave, they are successful with mac’ncheese. Maybe Josey could help her to complete this task at home, and Shelly could learn from her.

Again I am not a fan of Shelley but since i have also had a big back surgery i know she walks that way because she also has had a back surgery. Give her a break on that one, she can not help it. I can not walk the way i use to either, it sucks but that is what happens.

Sorry to know you have had back surgery. However, when you know you need to take care and not reinjure yourself, why would you accept an invitation to be on BB. Shelly has a plan. Part of it is to be the victim. Last night she talked about the first BB when the winner had only one leg. She identified with him and explained how she picked him to win on day one. The way she walks is only part of her image. She knows how to turn on the tears with women, but knows Adam doesn’t respond to tears the same way. Giving her a break means you will get taken advantage of royally. Hope she has not hurt herself in the games. However, we will see how her back surgery plays a part in her game plan. Having a “wooden leg” is an old trick!
My husband also had back surgery and he is a lot oler than Shelly. Maybe she should not be on big brother playing 20 something year old games.
Adam is onto her playing “the victim” and doesn’t buy it for a second. He feels secure in the Thursday vote. Hope he learns she is trying to stab him in the back during the “BB After Dark” hours. She does not like men at all. She thinks she will be able to convince the Jordan/Rachel pair to save her. Tomorrow we will see if she is successful or NOT!

Shelly’s interview showed her admiring J&J and wanted to play the game upstanding like them. They had her back – they would have taken her to the final four had she kept her alliance with them, and then they could have competed in the final four against each other. She turned on them way too soon. I hope you will regret that decision, you’ve played an ugly game. Not as smart as you think you are.
