Follow Up: CBS Threatens Legal Action Over ‘The Glass House’
May 5, 2012 |Did you notice some of the similarities between our beloved Big Brother and ABC’s newest foray into reality television with The Glass House? Well so did CBS, which is threatening legal action against ABC based on “classic copyright infringement.”

Lawyers from CBS have shot off Cease and Desist letters to ABC and producers involved with the show because they find the format to be a clear rip off of Big Brother, which will be going into it’s 14th season this July. The Glass House is set to premiere in June and they are casting now.
“In the strongest possible terms, we must admonish ABC and anyone involved in the development or production ofGlass House that they will be acting at their own peril if they continue to proceed in this manner,” lawyer Scott Edelman of the Gibson Dunn law firm writes, “and that CBS has instructed us to pursue all available remedies if this course of conduct continues.”
It also turns out at least 18 former Big Brother crew members are now taking part in The Glass House and CBS is raising a red flag to that as well, saying those former crew members know insider secrets regarding Big Brother and could use those in the production of the new show.
What do you think? Should ABC Cease and Desist? Or carry on and see who has the better show? Let us know in the comments.

I can see why CBS is upset, The Glass House is a Big Brother type show.
As a matter of fact, like I said why I blogged on this too, “it’s more like someone watched Big Brother for several years, listened to viewer feedback and then designed a reality show around all that with social media in mind.
Think of it as where Big Brother lacks or leaves off, The Glass House picks up and runs with it especially social media.”
However I don’t see a legal issue so long as the show is a little bit different. Let’s face it, most reality shows are knock off’s of each other and I think CBS should let this one go. Or ABC should change the format a little bit to get rid of CBS because I want to see this show.
Also, most employees I have to imagine of CBS and other networks sign a non-disclosure agreement and not to tell the secrets of the shows and stuff they see while employed.
So unless those employees are breaking those agreements, the employees should be free to works elsewhere including on another reality show. They have a right to earn a living in their careers too.
In the CBS will come out in a bad position if they continue this, but will a judge even listen to it?
I’ll always watch big brother but i’m curious about the glass house. I also can’t wait and see if CBS is able to stop ABC’s glass house from airing.
GO GLASS HOUSE. And CBS copied off of the UK’s Big Brother
that is not true. Big Brother in this first season played the first version of the game. With the HGs nomming and the public evicting.
