Big Brother 10: Episode 12 Recap From CBS.com

Season 10: Episode 12: America’s Player is the Deciding Vote in this Week’s Eviction

As long as April wants Memphis out of the house, “everything should be a pretty smooth ride,” Jessie says. “I’m not going anywhere.” April is happy that Veto holder Jerry honored her wishes to keep her nominations the same, and reaffirms her desire to see Memphis go home this week. “He’s a huge threat to me,” she says. Memphis sees the changing house landscape. “There is no alliance anymore,” he says. “It’s time to start from square one again.” Luckily for Memphis, his house ally, Keesha, is not happy that he has been targeted by April. In the Hippie Bedroom, Keesha tells Libra she hopes April changes her mind about the HouseGuest she wants to send home. Both of them think Jessie is coming after them if he stays in the house.

They decide they need to “shake April” and let her know that at least two people in their alliance are about to be gone. April walks into the room! Libra and Keesha broach the subject of who should go home this week, but April keeps repeating Memphis is the one to go this week. “I don’t like April,” Keesha says later. “I try very hard to like her but I can’t.” Libra points out to April that voting Memphis out may be good for April’s game, but that’s not the case for her and Keesha.

Jessie’s Exit Interiew With EW.com

Jessie Godderz: The (semi-unintelligible) ‘Big Brother’ exit interview
It was our hope to give you a revealing exit interview with Jessie Godderz, the latest evictee from the Big Brother 10 house (read a recap of last night’s show here), except we ran into a slight problem while transcribing his comments: most of them were unintelligible and made absolutely no sense! We tried to salvage what we could from the 22-year-old Huntington Beach, Calif., body builder, but please don’t blame us if you can’t entirely comprehend what he says about his workout regimen, his reasons for sleeping day and night, or why he stereotyped Jews via the BB webcam.

First things first: Please explain what a natural body builder is.
Even though I can still go into vitamin shops, there are still things inside those stores that I can’t take. The most potent I can take is creatine. I can’t take testosterone, I can’t take pro hormones. There is a list of banned drugs for this (type of body building competition. Ed note: Jessie goes on to name an obscure body building website where you can find these banned drugs but I began to coil up in a fetal position and was unable to write it all down). I take polygraph tests twice before a competition, a urinalysis right after I get off stage. That’s why I chose this organization (in which he participates). It was the most prestigious organization that I could find. That’s why I went into natural body building. I only use protein power, amino acids and food. They had the same protein in the house that I usually take.

CBS/Big Brother Fall Under Fire For “Language Indecency”

In Tuesday’s broadcast of Big Brother, during the HUGE fight sequrence apparently there was an unsencored moment where Libra was heard dropping the F-bomb! Here is a press release from “The Parent’s Television Council”:

CBS’s ‘Big Brother’ Drops an F-Bomb on Families

LOS ANGELES (August 6, 2008) – The Parents Television Council™ called out CBS today for yet another airing of an unedited “F-word” – the latest instance being on last night’s broadcast of the show “Big Brother.” The program aired at 9:00 pm in the Eastern and Pacific time zones and during the 8:00 pm hour in the Central and Mountain time zones. During last night’s broadcast, a woman named Libra was arguing with a man and said: “Memphis was in the f***ing room!”

“Last week CBS said they want the indecency laws overturned, and today we found out why. Based on their behavior, it would appear that they feel the law no longer applies to them anyway,” said PTC President Tim Winter.

“There is absolutely no justification for allowing an ‘F-word’ like this to air unedited on prime time broadcast television. There can be no question that this was an intentional act on the part of the network; someone actually had to edit the scene with the word into the show.

“Just this past November, CBS hypocritically entered into yet another consent decree with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) promising not to air indecent material. But apparently, CBS will break its own formal promise – again. Last time it was to air a teen orgy; this time it is for the opportunity to air the ‘F-word.’

“CBS’ behavior is a direct result of the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on so-called fleeting profanity – a case that will be heard by the Supreme Court this fall. But let me be clear: Unlike the facts of that legal challenge, this was no live broadcast. It was an intentional airing of pre-packaged program that contained obscene language. The network’s reprehensible decision to air it cannot go without consequence.

“Despite our disappointment with the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals decision regarding Janet Jackson’s striptease during the 2004 Super Bowl, that court was clear in acknowledging the authority of the broadcast decency laws as already affirmed by the Supreme Court. We have filed a formal complaint with the FCC and we urge the Commission to act on this matter immediately.

“PTC calls on its members and concerned citizens across the country to let the FCC and Congress know they will not tolerate CBS’ irresponsibility. In addition, advertisers who sponsored last night’s broadcast of ‘Big Brother’ will be told exactly what they paid for, and they should carefully consider whether they want to help bring F-bombs into living rooms across the country. We also call on Congress to swiftly vote on and pass S. 1780, the Protecting Children from Indecent Programming Act which would clarify that even a single instance of obscene language may be indecent. As the Supreme Court prepares to address this issue – and we hope the Justices have taken notice of last night’s episode - the time for families to speak out with a collective voice is now,” concluded Winter.

This is yet another contreversy surrounding Big Brother, although I think this one is kind of ridiculous to be honest. I didn’t even hear Libra say this when I was watching it. I’ll have to pay more attention when I re-watch it.

UPDATE: Well, I re-watched that specific part with Libra yelling at Jessie in the 70’s room and you can hear it but I highly doubt a lot of people picked up on it as the show was airing.

Did you hear it when you were watching the show the first time? Leave us a comment or post in the forums and let us know!

April’s HOH Blog

Head of Household #4: April

Well people I can honestly say that this is a crazy world in which we live in. A few months ago I would have never imagined myself living in a house with 13 roommates and our lives being shared with all of America. Going into this game I tried to have no expectations and to come into this house with an open mind and to live each day in the moment and have fun and meet some great people along the way. Maybe even learn a lesson or two about myself. Well a lesson or two has turned into many more and the moments I have experienced have exceeded all my expectations. As a house we have had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows but at the end of the day I have to take what I have experienced and learn and grow from it. This is a game and this is something that I have to constantly remind myself of. I am unable to speak for the rest of the house guests but I am aware of my actions and mistakes I have made while living in the BB10 house and some I may regret and some I may not. But when I do leave this house I am fortunate to have family and friends that love me and support me and that I the best thing that I could ever leave this house knowing.
Thank you to all the fans of BB10 I love you!!!!!!!!

Living the crazy life,

April
