Will Big Brother 12 Be the Last Season for CBS?
June 4, 2010 |
Big Brother fans who want to keep the series alive better make sure they tune in regularly this season. Rumors have allegedly been circulating that Big Brother 12 could be the last season of the show for CBS unless they have a really good reason to renew the show again.
CBS has not officially said anything about Big Brother being shut down after this season, but rumor has it the network may be considering cancelling the show. The UK version of Big Brother will end this summer, so it isn’t surprising there are rumors the U.S. version could follow suit.
Former Big Brother houseguest James Rhine is among those reportedly spreading the rumor the show will soon draw to a final close. In an interview with TVGrapeVine.com, Rhine said he and other former houseguests had “heard that next season will be the last” during a reunion in Oregon.
Personally we’re not betting on CBS cancelling Big Brother just yet. The series still has a mass legion of fans and we’re thinking the new schedule for Big Brother 12 may actually help improve the show’s ratings even more. Still, you never know these days what shows are going to get the boot for no good reason.
Despite any rumors to the contrary, we’ll keep believing Big Brother will be around for a good long while yet until CBS actually makes it official that the series is over for good.

I highly doubt that this is the last season. In comparison to Drama series (and to some extent comedy series) Reality is fairly cheap to make. And in the dead of summer.. you need something that doesn’t overwhelm the viewers.
I’ve read some places that James is just rambling things because he wants to stay relevant in the BB community.
He heard these RUMORS at a non-cbs non-bb sanctioned reunion so who are his sources? michelle? lydia?
It’s easy to start a rumor and the BB community to jump on board. Look, I’m going to start a new one:
“Julie Chen is moving into the BB house in season 13 as part of the first Celebrity Big Brother sources confirm”
I couldn’t have said it better myself Josh.
In fact, with Channel 4 having broadcast the US BB a few years ago during winter and both the UK and Australia having ended or ending their series, Some of those hardcore fans are probably going to be spending the money to get BB US live feeds from now on since it’s one of the few English speaking editions left.
Oh I agree with both of you, I think the rumor is a lot of BS and James is probably just trying to keep his 15 minutes going. Still, it’s always fun to know what kind of crazy dish is going around about the latest season!
@David I do doubt that if the show was on the bubble that those fans from UK or Australia would sway them. CBS cares about the network and the ratings. That’s their main business (right now, not saying it could change in the future)
So if the ratings aren’t there.. then they start making changes. Because without the ratings, there is no sponsors. And with no sponsors means no money and no show.
Holy crap! Julie Chen is going to be a HG in season 13? Awesome!
[It's building momentum. Run, little rumor, run!]
james is a lispy talking douche and the biggest gossip spreader
I do not believe the rumor, however that did not stop me from contacting CBS and Letting them know what a mistake that would be. I really think this is THE best show on TV and always look forward to this show all year. Guys please write CBS and let them know how much you love the show.
Yea Adam’s all over the place now. He can’t win ayawny. Then throw in the fact that he has to live with 4 girls for awhile. He will be sleeping with one eye open. LOL
i have to agre with josh
of things. I’m sure a lot of other people will agree with me.
This definitely should not be the last season of Big Brother. I pray that this show keeps going on for a long time. I will be old enough to go on it in a few years and would love the oppurtunity to be on the show. It would be extremely depressing. It’s probably the best show on television with all of its drama and competitions and now that they have after dark its just really incredible. Please help save Big Brother.
It should be the last season of BB. All good things must come to an end & this show has had its run. BB12 is sooooo boring, and the reality has been taken out of it completely. Sounds like the producers decide which hg’s they like & find a way to keep them in or give them the boot. I’m surprised BBAD hasn’t dropped them. I can’t stand to watch…it’s a huge yawnfest! Nothing good about this season, very sorry to say!
Very nice site!
