Big Brother 14 cast houseguest Wil Heuser, 24, is something of a ‘star’ already, at least on the Internet anyway. Wil Heuser is a true character who loves to do all sorts of crazy stuff on camera. Of all the fame seekers on Big Brother 14 this season, he is probably going to be the most entertaining to watch.
As often happens on Big Brother, Wil Heuser did not actually audition for the show. He happened to be out and about in his hometown of Louisville at the same time as a Big Brother casting event. A staffer from the show saw him somewhere and actually invited him to come and get in the VIP line at the Big Brother casting call. He was an immediate favorite and was shipped off to Los Angeles at the speed of light.
Wil, who is from Louisville, Kentucky, is a marketing consultant by trade, but his real love is most certainly entertaining on screen. He has spent much of his life singing and dancing his way across the world. A local luminary in his hometown, Wil has a relatively popular YouTube series called The Wil Show and especially seems to enjoy making fun of TV shows like Real Housewives of New Jersey and Desperate Housewives, and stupid news items like the “Tanning Mom”.
Unfortunately, his outrageous nature — unless he can tone it way down — may also get him evicted early on. Crazy is fun, but it doesn’t always make for the best alliance partner or game player. Big Brother fans are certainly torn about whether or not to like him based on what’s out there on the Net.
“There’s been some critical tweets about him and some positive things about him,” his mom Peggy said. “But any press is good press, so bring it on.”
“In all the years that Wil’s been in the entertainment industry, it’s been so hard (for him to find his big break),” Heuser’s mom, Peggy, told the Voice Tribune. “The timing was so right for Wil. He was coming back to Louisville (from New York), he didn’t have obligations to an apartment. Once he got the notice that he was cast, he was ready.”
Sadly Wil took his website content down before heading off to Big Brother, and it looks like his Facebook page is MIA as well (although we may just have missed it). You can, however, listen to his “Glitter on the Dancefloor” track at his MySpace page. Yes, there are people out there who still use Myspace.
Before leaving home, Wil reportedly made special T-shirts with the word “LOU” and a heart on them to wear on Big Brother 14 (if they let him). His family will be selling copies of the shirt at Work the Metal and Big Bar in Louisville to raise money for the Fairness Campaign to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender idenity.
This is not Wil Heuser’s first brush with a major reality show. He auditioned for American Idol back in season 8… and ended up in the ‘funny’ reject clips. He’s not actually that terrible of a singer though, from watching him on YouTube. Not brilliant, but not horrible.
Thankfully, unlike many ‘characters’ in past seasons, Wil has no interest in being a floater. He wants in on an alliance as soon as he can find one, according to some of his preseason interviews. Especially good, he thinks, will be an alliance with someone he hates, so no one will suspect it.
Wil may be going in as the “token gay,” as he says, but I hope he’ll latch on to lesbian rocker Jenn Arroyo and make a little rainbow alliance with a few straight-but-not-narrow types. Unless he does manage to get in a strong, early alliance, he could be quick bait for the eviction block. Quirky characters are fun to watch, but they often don’t last very long in the Big Brother house.
Wil is a serious pretty boy (and maybe prettier than some of the girls this season!), but he is also a triathlete, so he could be serious competition in the challenges. He would prefer, however, to be the champ of Power of Veto comps, rather than HoH comps to keep the target off his back.
Wil would be open to a showmance, or faking one, as long as it isn’t with a girl. We’re pretty sure no girl is going to mistake him for a straight guy anyway, so that’s no problem. Since none of the other guys seem to swing gay or bi this season, it looks like a lonely summer for Wil ahead. Too bad for the ladies, if he was straight, he’d actually be quite a catch (as you can see in this photo from his MySpace account).
Honestly, he’s hotter than any of the other guys on the show… when he’s not talking hysterically, dressing in bad drag… or wearing a mesh shirt and velvet shorts like in this CBS Big Brother 14 photo.
Although he stands out in real life, he hopes to be able to slide a bit under the radar in the house; not being either a hero or a villain. Wil has only seen season 13 of Big Brother for the most part, so this could leave him at a disadvantage in playing the game. In a complete reversal of my personal taste, Wil’s favorite player is Rachel Reilly, and his least favorite is Evel Dick. Bah!
Our Prediction: Wil wants an alliance and that’s what he needs to get. If he ends up as a floater, which could easily happen, I don’t see him making it that far. CBS no doubt wants him to play up that outrageous personality for the cameras, but it’s not likely to earn him a lot of brownie points with the other houseguests. This guy needs some solid teammates if he’s going to make it to the jury house or beyond.
Will Heuser CBS Big Brother Profile
Name: Wil Heuser
Age: 24
Hometown: Louisville, Ky.
Occupation: Marketing Consultant
Three adjectives that describe you: Funny, unique and brash.
Favorite Activities: Running, biking and lunching with good friends.
Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: It will be difficult to live with other people. I’m used to living on my own and having my space, but I’m always up for a challenge.
Strategy for winning “Big Brother:” I would probably not tell the other roommates my profession and play the “nice guy,” “someone you can trust” role. I think I would let alliances form first and then manipulate my way into control of the game.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most or least: I just watched the last season but I did not like Evil Dick; arrogant people are not my cup of tea. I did like Rachel. She was outgoing and fun to watch.
What are you afraid of: Snakes and bananas creep me out.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of: My career. I have traveled the world, met amazing people, and I’ve never let the word NO stop me.
Finish this sentence: My life’s motto is… If you want something done, do it yourself.
What would you take into the house and why: A flat iron since I have crazy hair and I have to keep it in check! An iPod because music helps me think and meditate. A bottle of Woodford Reserve… I’m from Kentucky – Bourbon — it’s in my blood.
What would you do if “Big Brother” made you famous: I wouldn’t change much in my life. Fame comes and goes. I would however probably use a little bit of press to help bring light to causes close to my heart.
