Celebrity Big Brother‘s James Maslow has a huge young following. He grew this fanbase by being one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush. Big Time Rush lasted for four seasons, and the band produced three studio albums before parting ways. They also went on several world tours.
From 2009-2014, Big Time Rush’s key demo was 10-18 year olds. If you check any of James’ social media pages, you’d find that he still has a pretty big and dedicated fanbase. However, most people over the age of 26 know nothing about James or Big Time Rush. For those Big Brother fans clueless about this former boy band member, we found some of the most interesting facts about him.
1. He got his start on Nickelodeon but not on Big Time Rush
Prior to being cast on Big Time Rush, James appeared on iCarly. In the episode (season 2 episode 1, ‘iSaw Him First), Carly and Sam fight over who gets to kiss James’ character Shane first. One year later, James would officially join the Nickelodeon family with Big Time Rush.
2. He battled Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder
There is a Youtube series called Princess Rap Battle. Each episode involves two princesses or female fictional characters, rap battling each other. Usually, one of the princesses is played by a famous person, and the other is played by the show’s creator Whitney Avalon.
James appeared on the episode that involves Rapunzel vs Anna from Frozen. He plays Kristoff. Both the guy and girls have a moment to battle, so you hear some of James’ rap skills on the video.
More fun facts, the Tangled characters are played by Buffy alums Eliza Dushku and Tom Lenk.
3. He joined the Lifetime movie club
James had a starring role on the Lifetime movie, Seeds of Yesterday. This is the fourth and final movie of the Dollanganger (or Flowers In the Attic) series. James played Catty’s son who resented the family for their incestious ways, but only because he was lusting after his adopted younger sister.
If you like Lifetime movies, the Flowers in the Attic series is the right kind of mess that you’ll love.
4. He has a connection to another housewife
Maslow competed on season 18 of Dancing With the Stars. Real Housewives star NeNe Leakes also appeared on that season. James finished in fourth place, and NeNe came in 8th place.
5. A star on the rise
In 2017, he won iHeartRadio’s Rising Star competition. The competition ran for six weeks and was open to any independent, unsigned artist. The winner was selected by a fan vote, and would get their music played across iHeartRadio platforms, and he or she would perform at the iHeartRadio festival.
James winning such a major voting competition, most likely means he will be a major threat when it comes to Celebrity Big Brother fan votes.
