Big Brother 2014 Houseguest Derrick Levasseur did a good job of cleaning up his social media profiles before the cast list was announced, unlike some of his fellow competitors. We did come across his proud Mom on Facebook organizing a Big Brother 16 kick-off event, and found his official Twitter account for the season, which is being run by his wife, but that’s about all.

Before deciding to try his hand at reality TV, Derrick seems to have been a pretty regular guy. We do know that he is married with an adorable baby daughter and he is a police officer, but little else of his life seems to have found it’s way to the web. If he had a personal Facebook, Twitter or other social media profile, they have been hidden or deleted. So we go into Big Brother 2014 mostly basing our first impression of Derrick on what he had to say to the fans in his pre-season interviews.

Favorite Activities: I am a big fan of guns and enjoy modifying and shooting them; I get to use most of them at work. Also, I like to scuba dive.
What do you think will be the most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: Being away from my family for so long. Even though you are in the house with other people, you have to remember that they are trying to take $500,000 away from you and it will be tough to not have my family to release some of the tension.
Do you have a strategy for winning Big Brother?: My strategy involves three phases. First, attempt to find common interests with as many houseguests as I can, while developing a profile on them. Second, start using the facts I learned about the houseguests against them. Finally, if I’m able to win a few HOH’s/POV’s late in the game, I can make some moves that will determine the winner.
Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most: I love that Dan Gheesling was always using sports analogies to pump himself up because I’m the same way.
What are you afraid of: I am not a fan of heights.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of: I’m proud of my education and the accomplishments in my career as a police officer.

What would you take into the house and why: A picture of my daughter as she is everything to me, my memory foam pillow since I need a good night sleep and a deck of cards.
What would you do if Big Brother made you famous: I would try and use it to make some positive changes. I would like to give back to my family and help out the kids of Central Falls. Also, I’m a huge animal lover. Sign me up for anything I can do to help reduce the number of puppy mills, kill shelters and helping animals get adopted.
Derrick attended college on a full ride baseball scholarship and got his master’s degree in Business Management. He’s been a Police Sergeant for 10 years after starting as an undercover officer when he was only 20 years old.

We don’t really have a lot more on Derrick before he headed into the Big Brother 2014 house. We know his wife Jana is crazy about him and his daughter is super cute. They met 10 years ago in college, got married in 2011, and their little girl is now 17 months old. Jan told BigBrotherBuzz that Derrick is a real Big Brother superfan and has been a hardcore viewer for seven years, including subscribing to the Live Feeds, and watching Big Brother After Dark.
Our Thoughts on Derrick Levasseur:
According to pre-season interviews, Derrick plans on hiding that he has been a police officer for ten years from the other Houseguests. He knows that people can have strong opinions about that kind of occupation and he wants to fly under the radar at first. He’s going to tell them he works in Parks and Rec, which he has a background in. This is actually a pretty smart move, so that tells us Derrick really does understand some things about the game, which could bode very well for him.
Derrick is obviously physically fit, so he should do well in competitions, but he may not try too hard. He’s already said he plans on trying to float through early on and ‘go with the will of the house’ if he wins HoH. He doesn’t want to appear too strong or make enemies too soon in the game. Good strategy and if he lands in a solid alliance, and isn’t hiding an a-hole personality in there, he could coast quite a ways through the game. We’re not seeing final three for this guy yet, but he could surprise use.
Let’s just hope he ramps up the personality a little bit, because his pre-season interviews were a bit boring and flat. We really don’t want to watch that on the Big Brother Live Feeds all summer.
