Last week on the premiere episode of The Challenge USA, two former Big Brother houseguests narrowly avoided eviction from the game. Kyland Young and Azah Awasum (from Big Brother 23, the Cookout) lost the first competition in the game and were up for eviction.
Kyland and Azah faced off against Love Island alums Cely Vazquez and Javonny Vega in the arena. Kyland and Azah pulled off the victory, and Cely and Javonny were sent home in the first week. Tonight, the random couples twist takes effect ruining many plans for the players who had partnered up with close friends from Survivor, Big Brother, Love Island, and the Amazing Race.
The Challenge USA‘s new algorithm took effect immediately, and the players were partnered randomly with new teammates. They no longer have any control over who they play the game with each week. They will face brand new teammates each week until that is no longer possible, and then they will not have the same teammate two weeks in a row.
Tonight’s challenge was called Yeah Buoy. The teams had to collect letters from spinning buoys and bring them back, 5 letters at a time, to form the most words on the big board. The team to come in last place will automatically face off in the arena challenge for the week.
The winners, who placed the most words on the board, were Tyson Apostol from Survivor and Justine Ndiba from Love Island. This is the second week in a row that Tyson has won the primary competition.
James Wallington and Cayla Platt, both former contestants on the Amazing Race, were not able to place any words on their board. They finished in last place this week and will automatically go to fight for their lives in the arena.
During her conversation with Tyson, Tiffany Mitchell (Big Brother 23) learned that the most likely couple to go in the arena this week is Enzo Palumbo (Big Brother 12 and 22) and Alyssa Lopez (Big Brother 23). Tyson did throw out another possibility of Xavier Prather and Azah Awasum as candidates for the arena. Tyson seemed to be leaning more towards Enzo and Alyssa.
In the end, Tyson and Justine surprisingly picked Tiffany and Cashel Barnett. Cashel is from Love Island. Tiffany was definitely blindsided by Tyson’s selection.
Tyson and Justine selected Tiffany over the other Big Brother houseguests because she was playing a Big Brother reminiscent manipulative game. Most of the other Big Brother players told Tyson they wanted Tiffany up for elimination over any of the other Big Brother players in the game. (Tyson felt the need to pick a Big Brother player this week for the arena to keep the game fair, in his mind.)
This week’s arena competition was called Knowledge is Power. The players had to ride exercise bikes to power up a tower with 12 symbols at the top. Once the symbols were illuminated and then memorized, the team had to properly recreate the symbols in 3 different rounds. The first team to complete the challenge won immunity for the week, which would send the other team home and thus be eliminated from the game.
After 3 grueling rounds, Tiffany and Cashel just didn’t have enough energy to pull out a victory. They were eliminated from The Challenge USA. Tiffany is the first Big Brother player eliminated from the game.
