Big Brother 14: Jenn Arroyo Houseguest Profile

Big Brother 14 cast member Jenn Arroyo, 37,  is already treading down the rough path to fame as a musician. The former bass player for the all girl metal group Kittie, Jenn Arroyo likes to joke she is a graduate of the School of Rock  and the School of Hard Knocks, University of Life.

Jenn enjoys playing SEX ROCK with sprinkles of metal, a music genre she says makes you “want to dance and want to f*ck. Don’t act like you don’t want to do both. We are all only human.” Jenn is most well known as the former bassist for the Kittie, which went platinum and has done some pretty heavy touring.

Jenn Arroyo is no cute girl with a guitar, this lady is hardcore, as you can probably tell from her primary Facebook account header photo.  (Yes, she has a secondary Facebook account,  because apparently she has too many friends/fans for just one.) Jenn says she’s aware that she is stereotyped because of her appearance and she can come across as intimidating. She hopes that she can use that to her advantage.

She’s also played with a slew of other bands, including Suicide City, Open Defiance, Spine, Suicide Blood, JennCity, and DeMilitiA, which she describes as DeathNRoll from the concrete jungle of Brooklyn, NY. She also lists being a DJ among her activities. Proving that she’s pretty damn hot as a bassist, she’s been endorsed by WARWICK Basses & Amps, Morely Bass Wah, Boss Pedals, and Dean Markley.

As is probably obvious from the amount of pro gay marriage, happy pride and other gayish postings on her Facebook page (such as “I Roll With Pretty B*tches as an activity), Jenn is an out and proud proud lover of women. She is totally open to hooking up with a lovely lady on Big Brother 14 if the opportunity should arise. Which begs the question, if Ashley really does swing on the girls side (or both), might there be a girl-on-girl showmance brewing as a possibility? That would be fun…

Which leads us to my favorite quote from Jenn I’ve seen so far, on her Twitter feed: “Sweet Jesus… What is it with you chicks.. ? You either wanna Fight or F*ck me… Let’s always choose the latter…. Cool?”

In addition to being a fierce bassist and guitarist, Jenn Arroyo is also looking pretty strong on the athletic side as she lists working out, kickboxing and running as strong interests. Among some of her odder interests on Facebook, she notes a fondness for brass knuckles, the bare naked bake sale, sleeping with my boots on, all things leopard print and showering. Actually, of all the Facebook pages for the contestants I’ve read through so far, Jenn’s is really the most entertaining.

Some of Jenn’s favorite hangouts in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY include Project Parlor Bar, Goodbye Blue Monday Coffee Shop, Ganni’s Pizzeria and Tavern On Third, where she occasionally DJs.

Jenn’s life is all about music, first, foremost and end of story. She says it is her “everything and I couldn’t dare imagine my life without it.” In fact, she didn’t even audition for Big Brother 14 as she was far too busy working on her music career. As she details in her interview with our friends at BigBrotherNetwork.com below, she just happened to post a note on a Facebook wall that someone from Big Brother saw and thought she was interesting and tracked her down. Jenn wasn’t really a Big Brother watcher before being cast, so she doesn’t really know all that much about how the game play on the show works, which is always fun.

Jen would love the money from winning Big Brother 14, of course, but obviously all the attention from being on the show will probably help her in her music career as well, which was probably a strong consideration for her in deciding to sign on for the show.

For her Big Brother strategy, Jenn hopes to work on the alliance thing, hopefully with some strong guys. She has a wait and see attitude though to see how things pan out. She wants to be America’s new “favorite rock and roll lesbian.”

Our Prediction: Jenn could be a strong player if she gets in the right alliance. She has some brains and some brawn and I could see her being a force in the house. I could also, however, see her rubbing people the wrong way and getting in the midst of some major catfights. Frankly, although it may be stereotyping, I just don’t see Jenn as the winning “type” on Big Brother and I think it is entirely possible she won’t even make the jury. Unless Jenn nails down a really strong alliance right up front, I just don’t see her going all the way.

Occupation: Musician/Former Bass Player for the Female Metal Group “Kittie”
Three adjectives that describe you: Smart, sexy and funny.
Favorite Activities: I LOVE TO PLAY MY GUITAR/BASS!! I also like to work out, bike, run and lift weights. I enjoy writing and my journal tends to work out as lyrics.
Most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house: No contact with family and friends. It will be tough, but I have been on very long tours far away from my loved ones and survived, so I can do this.
Strategy for winning “Big Brother:” I’m going to be me. It’s a simple answer, but a fun twisted puzzle to unfold.
What are you afraid of: Roller coasters. Not too keen on heights either.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of: I’m so very proud of every album I’ve ever worked on. A piece of my heart and soul are located within.
Finish this sentence: My life’s motto is… TO ENJOY YO’SELF!
What would you take into the house and why: Guitar, a laptop to record my music and a flat iron.
What would you do if “Big Brother” made you famous: Head right back into the studio and record a full length album and then head out on the road with my band and tour. Start a music program to help underprivileged kids stay focused. Music has saved my life and I want to give back to what has been so good to me.
