Big Brother 18 Premiere Recap: More Twists, New Challenges!

After the competition, Zakiyah tells the rest of the newbies that the “old heads” gotta go. All of them agree that even if they are playing in teams, they are still going to be about getting the veterans out first. Nicole, James, and Da’Vonne are all scared about going home.

Da’Vonne would rather be working with the vets, but says she has to make her team believe she has their backs, so they will have hers. Da’Vonne tells her teammates she will keep them off the vets radar, if they keep her off the newbie radar. As soon as she leaves, her newbie teammates are laughing at her behind her back. Paul says maybe she won’t be the second one out this season, maybe she’ll just be the third.

Now the teams are trying to come up with names. There are some pretty stupid names both considered and finally agreed on. I’m trying to remember if there was a team called the Four Horsemen at some point, because that would have been an awesome name. They finally settle on:

Team Category 4: Frank, Michelle, Paulie, Bridgette
Team Big Sister: Day, Paul, Zakiyah, Jozea
Team Unicorn: James, Natalie, Victor, Bronte
Team Freakazoids: Nicole, Corey, Tiffany, Glenn

The next competition is called Hit the Road and will be played in three rounds. The winners of the first round will be safe in the first eviction. The second place team will also be safe. The losing team will then play against each other and the loser will end up as the first person evicted.

Tiffany thinks Michelle might be related to Nicole. Michelle tells Tiffany she looks just like Vanessa Rousso. At first she denies it, but Tiffany decides to admit the relationship because it’s going to come out eventually. Michelle is happy to know and hopes she can get far in the game with her. Vanessa still doesn’t quite seem to believe that Michelle is not Nicole’s sister.

Time for the Hit the Road competition to start. Team Unicorn (James, Natalie, Victor, Bronte) are safe and get to sit this out. The rest of the teams have to compete to build sand castles on platforms being held above the ground by the team members without them falling on the ground. This seems to be quite a tense and difficult challenge, and tempers quickly start rising. Da’Vonne and Paul in particular seem to be getting quite pissy with each other.

Team Category 4 (Frank, Michelle, Paulie, Bridgette) finishes first and they are now all safe from the first eviction. And we have our first tears of the season. Nicole is stressing she is going to end up going first, but Corey comforts her and says they will win the next round. Da’Vonne is crying and upset in the Diary Room because she doesn’t want to have to play with other people. She wanted to play by herself.

Next round of the competition, and this time the two remaining teams have to build another sand castle. It’s Team Freakazoids: Nicole, Corey, Tiffany, Glenn against Team Big Sister: Day, Paul, Zakiyah, Jozea. This time it’s a giant puzzle, but some of the pieces are fakes and won’t fit together. Da’Vonne is once again pissed at Paul for being bossy and rude.

The competition is very tight, but Team Freakazoids think they have it right and are done, but turns out they are wrong! Glenn says if they’d listened to him when they were building, they would have gotten it right. Team Big Sister then thinks they are done, but turns out they are wrong as well. Both teams are desperately trying to fix their castles first.

And the winner is… Team Big Sister! So Da’Vonne, Paul, Jozea, and Zakiyah are now safe from eviction. But Paul still does not trust Da’Vonne and wants her gone as soon as possible. Glenn hates his team and he doesn’t like how they are affecting his game.

Unfortunately we will not get to see the final round of the competition until tomorrow night and find out who wins HoH and who will be evicted.

That’s a wrap! Good night!
