For weeks, rumors have been circulating about Big Brother’s long-awaited return. Fans have been glued to news outlets, social media, and trusted Big Brother blogs waiting for news and spoilers about whether the show would go on amongst a global pandemic.
The TV higher-ups have finally answered our calls. Big Brother plans to return on August 5, 2020. CBS’s official press release announced that Big Brother returns for its 22nd season with a two-hour live move-in premiere event. This will air from 9:00-11:00 pm ET.
CBS also released a basic promo video today confirming the August 5 date. Host Julie Chen also tweeted a picture from the promo that stated “All-Stars Make the Game,” which seems to be a not-so-subtle nod to the rumors (that are almost completely confirmed) about Big Brother 22 being the second all-star season.

Big Brother 22 is going to be a special season, not only because of the All-Stars rumor but because it marks the official 20 anniversary since Big Brother premiered in the US. It’s also going to be a nice distraction during this insanity going on in the real world.

Nicole Franzel
Nicole Anthony
Danielle Reyes
Dani Donato
Hayden Moss
Tyler Crispen
Janelle Pierzina
Josh Martinez
Bayleigh Dayton
And so many more. Basically, if you played Big Brother, your name has probably at least appeared on the rumored cast list at least once. We’ll find out the official names when the live move-in happens on August.
Big Brother 22 will also stay to its usual three nights a week schedule, despite premiering later than normal. It’ll air on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. With many fall shows not being able to air during their normal schedule, this likely means CBS is banking on the series to bring in the ratings for the missed opportunity of some of the CBS favorite programming. Entertainment Weekly also stated that CBS will do everything in their power to be very cautious with the houseguests and staff during this pandemic.
