The Big Brother 18 house for 2016 features a “Summer Vacation” theme with each room decorated to represent a different country or destination. This is one of our favorite themes for the Big Brother house in years, even if it is a bit of an echo from the most recent season of Big Brother Canada. Granted, there is still a lot of cheesy bad decorating going on, but at least it seems to be more fun and interesting cheesiness this time around.

The first Big Brother 18 spoilers on the new house were leaked on social media two weeks before the season premiere. The “Summer Vacation” themed house features iconic imagery representing famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and cultural references such as anime wallpaper for Japan, and a red phone booth door and British flag pillows for the UK.

The annual Big Brother House Tour video with host Julie Chen was released on June 16 after several days of delay following the tragic Orlando gay nightclub shootings. The newly redecorated house features “exotically themed bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas, plus a completely redesigned backyard with a new pool, hot tub and gym equipment.”

Apparently the new house theme will also play into “the twists and turns that the Big Brother Houseguests will face this summer,” according to Executive Producer Allison Grodner. “I don’t want to give too much away, but there are quite a few things in the house that are more than just decorations.”

As with any great vacation, the Houseguests will start their summer of fun in an ultra-modern air terminal/living room where a “Departures” sign lists the exotic destinations featured throughout the house. The air travel theme continues in the kitchen, with an island built from the cowling of a 727 jet engine, and souvenir-themed plates, glasses and snow globes.

In an African safari-themed room, Houseguests can lounge inside a “glamping tent,” then “travel” to the bustling Shibuya section of Tokyo with its pop-art graphic mural and neon signs, and to London with its cobblestone floor and Union Jack fabric in the bedrooms. A bright yellow and red phone booth serves as a passageway between the Tokyo and London rooms and has a working phone that connects callers to the Head of Household suite. The patterned textures and bright colors of the Caribbean-inspired bathroom brings the beach indoors for the Houseguests.

Upstairs, the HOH suite is themed Honolulu, Hawaii, with a laser-cut hibiscus room divider, tiki pilasters and a headboard built from a massive saltwater aquarium, with seven tropical fish, one for each of the seven seas. Also, this season’s chess set is custom built with 3D-printed scale replicas of famous landmarks in Chicago and New York City.

Finally, a redesigned backyard celebrates U.S. national parks and features a new pool, a hot tub and gym equipment.

In one of the first photos leaked from the Big Brother 18 house, we can see Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier and #BB18 host Julie Chen standing inside a phone booth with two doors. One side is yellow and features Japanese characters on top. The other side is red, representing a UK phone booth, and leads into a British themed bedroom. The walls of this room are plastered with anime characters.

One of our favorite rooms in the Big Brother 18 house is the gorgeous Head of Household room. The wall view of a tropical beach resort is almost realistic enough to believe you are actually looking out a window onto the ocean below. Plus, we love the huge fish tank in the headboard, which the cameras zoom in on during ‘fish time’ on the Big Brother Live Feeds.
